Job DescriptionJob Title: Elementary School PrincipalReports To: Superintendent or DesigneePrimary Function:Serve as the instructional and operational leader of a Coventry Elementary School overseeing daily operations fostering a positive and safe learning environment and promoting academic excellence. This role requires a blend of administrative expertise educational leadership and strong interpersonal Qualifications:Masters degree in Educational Leadership Administration or a related fieldValid Rhode Island certification for school principalMinimum of 10 years of teaching experience with at least 2 years in a leadership roleStrong understanding of curriculum development instructional strategies and assessment methodsExcellent communication organizational and problem-solving skillsMust be an employee in good standing including attendance professionalism and evaluationTerms and Conditions of Employment:220-day work year. Salary and benefits per contractKey Responsibilities:Instructional LeadershipDevelop and implement curriculum standards aligned with Coventry Public Schools and The State of Rhode Island guidelinesObserve and evaluate teacher performance providing feedback and professional development opportunitiesAnalyze student achievement data to inform instructional strategies and interventionsFacilitate school improvement efforts including a school Needs Assessment and complete a yearly School Improvement Plan that aligns with the Coventry Public Schools Strategic PlanSchool OperationsManage daily school activities including scheduling classes and coordinating extracurricular programsOversee the schools budget procurement of supplies and maintenance of facilitiesEnsure compliance with safety protocols and coordinate emergency preparedness plansStaff ManagementInterview and recommend new staff appointments to positions that maximize the effectiveness of the schools programsSupervise and evaluate all employees providing constructive feedback to improve performanceFoster a collaborative and productive work environmentLead staff meetings and professional development sessions to promote continuous improvementStudent SupportEstablish and enforce student behavior policies to maintain a safe and respectful school climateProvide guidance and support services to address students academic and social-emotional needsEncourage student participation in school-sponsored activities and recognize achievementsCommunity EngagementCommunicate effectively and timely with parents guardians and community stakeholdersOrganize events and programs that promote family involvement and community partnershipsServe as the public representative of the school addressing concerns and highlighting successes* Any other assignment at the direction of the : Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the School Committees policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel
