Provide leadership supervision and evaluation of all aspects of the district DL/MLL/ESL Program(s). Works closely with the Multilingual Learner Director Building Principals other District Administrators and MLL Coaches and teachers to develop monitor and evaluate program content and effectiveness;
Lead Assist and Support ELL/ESL Instruction
- Provide leadership in the development of a comprehensive program for increasing English language acquisition and academic achievement for all Multilingual Learners;
- Oversee the adoption and alignment of Dual Language curriculum materials and ensure fidelity to Dual Language unit implementation lesson planning and best instructional practices;
- Increase the capacity of educators to deliver ESL SEI and Dual Language curriculum and instructional best practices through ongoing professional development and coaching;
- Oversee the adoption and alignment of ELD curriculum materials and ensure fidelity and integrity as pertain to ELD and Sheltered Content unit development lesson planning and best instructional practices;
- Increase the capacity of school leaders to supervise guide and evaluate the delivery of ELD SEI and Dual Language curriculum through professional development and consultation;
- Ensure the alignment of ELD SEI and Dual Language curriculum and assessments to WIDA standards and frameworks;
- Provide leadership on K-12 ML instructional curricular and professional development initiatives;
- Manage lead and provide development for a team of Multilingual Instructional Coaches ensuring they have the skills and knowledge necessary to support schools
Lead Assist and Support ELL/ESL Compliance
- Collaborate with department leaders such as SPED Office of Teaching and Learning STEM Mentoring extended Learning and Human Resources to support the implementation of HQIM and best practices for Multilingual learners.
- Provide technical support in the implementation of the local state and federal assessment of ML students and required reporting;
- Engage in Data Review and Analysis and use this information to inform the further development of curriculum materials professional development and guidance to educators in best instructional practices;
- Collaborate with School Principals and District Leaders in developing improvement goals in relation to Multilingual Learner Education and plans to reach the goals;
- Engage with family and community stakeholders to increase awareness and understanding of English language development and Dual Language standards curriculum assessment and instructional practices
- Assist the Director of MLL in overseeing ACCESS testing at the district level and analyze and report on ACCESS data.
- Supports the Director of MLL with the screening evaluating planning assigning and exiting of entering students in the ELL programs to include defining entrance and exit criteria for all services
- Performs such other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the MLE Department leadership and the Superindentants Office.
Qualifications Required:
- MA DESE ESL/SEI licensure
- Masters Degree in relevant content area;
- Minimum of 3-5 years teaching in a multilingual classroom and leading teams and/or departments;
- Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated success with dual language curriculum program design implementation and professional development;
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in collaborative educational environment and shared decision-making;
- Demonstrated success working with immigrant and refugee populations;
- Demonstrated success in all aspects of program management and budgeting;
- Experience with dual language programs strongly preferred experience in collaborative educational environment and shared decision-making modeled on PLCs highly desirable;
- Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with others; ability to work with and support diverse learners;
- Citizenship residency or work visa required
Qualifications Preferred:
- Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred;
- Bilingual in other languages;
- Additional DESE certification in Moderate Disabilities Director/Assistant Director
Terms:
In accordance with the contract with the Chelsea Administrators Association (CAA). The work year for this position is 215 days.See CPSwebsitefor salary information.
