Job Summary

The Student Success Navigator provides intrusive coaching and structured intervention for first-time freshmen with a high school GPA of 2.2 or lower through the Saluqi Scholars Program. This position ensures students receive proactive academic support skill-building and resource navigation to enhance persistence retention and academic success. The Navigator tracks student engagement identifies challenges and facilitates structured outreach and interventions to ensure students remain on track in their first semester.

Additionally the Navigator works closely with the Saluqi Scholars Peer Mentors to support student engagement and retention efforts. The Navigator collaborates with campus partners including Admissions Academic Advising Career Services Student Leadership and Engagement and Financial Aid to enhance first-semester student programming. The Navigator also works on First Gen Forward Network Leader initiatives to strengthen support for first-generation college students through targeted programming and engagement.

Job Duties

  • Reports to the Director of the Office of Academic Intervention.
  • Manages a caseload of first-time freshmen in the Saluqi Scholars Program providing structured intervention and proactive support.
  • Encourages students to participate in the second semester opt-in option of the Saluqi Scholars Program
  • Monitors first-time freshmen engagement tracking attendance participation and academic progress in collaboration with the Early Alert Manager.
  • Conducts proactive outreach via phone email and in-person meetings to ensure continued engagement and encourage participation in workshops and Success Hub activities.
  • Collaborates with Saluqi Scholars Peer Mentors to provide structured engagement mentorship and student success initiatives.
  • Leads student success workshops on academic skills time management study strategies and self-advocacy.
  • Works with the Assistant Director to assign caseloads to Peer Mentors and coordinate engagement strategies.
  • Coordinates with Admissions and New Student Orientation to ensure first-time freshmen receive the support they need.
  • Implements QEP-aligned student engagement strategies to reinforce academic skill-building and college success habits.
  • Works with Career Services to provide career exploration and major fit interventions for first-semester students.
  • Collaborates with Academic Advising to ensure caseload members meet with advisors and register for subsequent terms.
  • Tracks student progress and engagement using the CRM (Slate) and early alert systems.
  • Participates in First Gen Forward Network Leader initiatives to strengthen support for first-generation students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree.
  • Experience working with first-semester college students or vulnerable student populations.
  • Experience with case management student coaching or academic intervention strategies.
  • Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) platforms for tracking student engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Education Counseling Student Affairs or a related field.
  • Experience working in a community college setting.
  • Experience managing caseloads of students and intervention tracking.
  • Familiarity with early alert systems student information systems (Banner) and CRM platforms (Slate).
  • Experience with Learning Management System (Brightspace D2L) for student engagement tracking.
  • Experience developing and coordinating first-semester student programming.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to provide intrusive coaching and proactive outreach to first-time freshmen.
  • Strong communication relationship-building and case management skills.
  • Knowledge of academic policies first-semester experience programming and student success models.
  • Ability to track student engagement and use data for targeted outreach.
  • Strong customer service problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to facilitate student success workshops and structured engagement activities.
