Job Description

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Development will independently build upon and maintain a portfolio of prospects directly soliciting gifts to support Student Affairs create relationships with college alumni prospects donors and external community members steward the Student Affairs donors and provide project management assistance and support at alumni donor and prospect events.

The incumbent provides services that are equitable inclusive culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. The position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead build and maintain a portfolio of donor prospects and solicit annual leadership and major gifts of $250000.
  • Write thank you letters design and produce donor centric marketing collateral and
  • publications (e.g. impact reports proposals case for support scholarship profiles) including digital collateral (e.g. social media website) and other relevant materials in support of fundraising initiatives.
  • Coordinate cultivation and stewardship activities and board committee activities related to funding development.

Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Handles tasks with grace and committed to providing quality customer service. Strong work ethic and professionalism complimented by a positive attitude openness flexibility and integrity. Understanding and commitment to diversity equity inclusion and access practices. Ability to solicit a donation both verbally and in writing via email and/or letter. Ability to make cold calls to various prospects and constituents. Ability to travel locally to meet with prospective donors.

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of peoplevolunteers prospects donors faculty staff students and vendors. Ability to be discrete in handling confidential information. Ability to perform clerical work involving sound judgment accuracy and efficiency. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with program staff academic departments the Vice Presidents office and a variety of offices and individuals on and off campus. Working knowledge of Windows Word Excel databases e-mail webpages online graphic design tools and social media.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelors degree in a related field and three years of related experience required.
  • Higher Education and fundraising experience preferred.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Licenses

Valid California drivers license required.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5000 - $6250 per month commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4598 - $8318 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
