Job Description

The Cape Girardeau Adult Education Center is seeking a dedicated part-time AEL Instructor for the 2025-26 academic year. Hours:Position is for 7-14 hours per week 10 months per year(either day or evening classes). Location: Sikeston MO

The Adult Education & Literacy Instructor facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • AEL certification or ability to complete certification within three (3) months of hire
  • Experience working with diverse population with varying beliefs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage a multi-level adult classroom
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Drive.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Adult education or secondary education teaching experience with at risk students
  • Willingness to interact with the community at large in promoting program
