Summary:
Oversees and coordinates daily clinical and operational activities in the assigned area collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team including providers nursing and ancillary staff; arranges manages and facilitates the sequencing of procedures and verifies that clinical resources are available and properly prepared (equipment supplies and the appropriate personnel for the procedure). Manages day to day departmental/unit operational flow and allocation of resources. Manages day to day staffing needs of area to ensure unit is able to meet patient care needs. Provides leadership in quality metrics for assigned area. Uses advanced knowledge and critical thinking skills to perform the parts of the nursing process.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
License and Certification Requirement
1. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York; and
2. Certification or eligibility for Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Education and Experience
1. Bachelors degree in Nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time nursing experience in an oncology support setting; or
2. Bachelors degree in Nursing and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time nursing experience in an acute care support setting; or
3. Associates degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time nursing experience in an oncology support setting; or
4. Associates degree in Nursing and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time nursing experience in an acute care support setting.
NOTE:
1. Incumbents must obtain and maintain applicable certification as required by area of specialty within eighteen (18) months of appointment to this position as a condition of continued employment in this title.
2. As a condition of continued employment incumbents must obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
3. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cardiac monitoring experience
- BSN or greater
- Experience administering moderate sedation
- ACLS
- BLS
- Experience working with oncology patients
- Experience working in Interventional Radiology. Experience working with oncology patients
- Leadership Experience
