Upper Elementary Teacher (Grades 3-6)St. Michaels Country Day School Newport RISt. Michaels Country Day School an independent non-sectarian school serving students in toddler through grade eight is seeking a dedicated enthusiastic Upper Elementary Teacher to join our vibrant school community. We are looking for a warm passionate educator with a deep understanding of upper elementary learners a collaborative spirit and a commitment to nurturing the whole child. Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Elementary Education (Masters degree preferred)Minimum of three years experience teaching Upper Elementary in a classroom setting preferredThorough understanding of Upper Elementary developmental milestones and curriculum goalsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with children parents and colleaguesCommitment to reflective teaching ongoing professional development and culturally responsive practicesFamiliarity with Fundations and Singapore Math preferred Familiarity with Responsive Classroom or similar approaches is a plus Responsibilities:Curriculum & InstructionPlan implement and adapt developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support students cognitive social emotional and academic growthCollaborate as part of a unified teaching team working closely with the partner teacherBalance individual teaching style with the shared responsibility of maintaining alignment consistency and clear communication across the programDeliver differentiated instruction project-based learning and integrated thematic curriculum when possibleEmploy exceptional classroom management organization communication and collaboration skillsSeek opportunities to implement innovative technology into the classroom curriculum Administer curriculum mapping tools to document and align goals and outcomesParticipate in shared duties such as lunch recess and dismissalAssessment & Student SupportObserve assess and document students development regularly to inform and guide instructionConduct ongoing assessments and maintain records of student progress across domainsSupport a range of learning styles and needs through differentiated small-group and one-on-one instructionFamily EngagementBuild strong trusting relationships with families through clear consistent and proactive communicationConduct two formal parent-teacher conferences annually and provide written progress reports twice yearlyPartner with families as needed to support student growth transitions and successProfessional EngagementSupport the schools mission and values including its commitment to diversity equity and inclusionCollaborate with colleagues and contribute actively to school-wide initiativesActivate a growth mindset and enthusiasm for ongoing learning and professional growthParticipate in faculty meetings school events and professional development opportunities St. Michaels is a joyful nurturing environment that values developing courageous learners and caring citizens who are world ready.
