Job Description
The Associate Director of Reunion Programs is an important partner in the strategic management of Virginia Techs relationship with its alumni donors and organization and community partners. The Associate Director is a strategic-thinker providing program management promotion and execution of Reunion Programs including; Alumni Weekend Homecoming and other larger scale engagement programs through collaboration with members of the Advancement team and various university partners. The Associate Director will identify cultivate and manage volunteers including those from class milestone anniversaries organizations and community partners contributing to longstanding and successful relationships between Virginia Tech and its alumni.
The Associate Director plays a leadership role within the Advancement Division executing some of the universitys largest engagement programs while simultaneously managing volunteer organization and community partnerships and building strong relationships through excellent customer service to internal and external partners. This strategic leader will be comfortable with data using data to drive informed strategic decisions and have excellent communication skills.
This position reports to the Director of Reunion Programs and may be asked to represent the Reunions team when the Director is unavailable. The Associate Director will supervise volunteers student interns and Student Alumni Associates while also serving as a strategic leader for Reunion Programs throughout the advancement division. This position will strategically leverage reunion programs to increase engagement and philanthropic participation that supports university priorities. This position has frequent contact with and is a resource for alumni volunteers organizations community partners and advancement staff assisting in the resolution of alumni inquiries relating to engagement volunteer and philanthropic opportunities. The Associate Director acts independently making needed strategic decisions to identify and recruit partnership create integration with signature reunion programs and build strong partnerships internally and externally. This position actively provides guidance across Advancement.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree or bachelors degree and extensive experience equating to an advanced degree.
Experience in program and event planning communications student affairs public relations non-profits annual giving or other related fields.
Demonstrated experience in program management volunteer coordination event planning public relations and/or ability to collaborate to accomplish goals.
Demonstrated experience monitoring and managing budgets.
Demonstrated data analytic skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
Successful candidates will have a strong track record of high-level customer service with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively within the department and with others at the university.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with a variety of populations.
Experience with databases and data analytics.
Experience supervising student interns and/or volunteers.
Experience in reunion programming alumni engagement annual giving and/or non-profit work.
