Job Description

Position Title: Director of Induction & MentoringLocation: Central OfficeReports To: Senior Director of Curriculum & InstructionJob Overview:The Director of Induction and Mentoring is responsible for developing implementing and overseeing comprehensive induction and mentoring programs for new teachers and administrators across the district. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring educator success retention and professional growth within our K-12 school :Implement a district-wide educator induction program aligned with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requirementsWork with school and district administrators to recruit train and supervise mentor teachers and administratorsDevelop and supervise district wide New Teacher Coaches to provide instructional coaching to teachers in the first three years of practiceCoordinate with principals and department heads to ensure consistent implementation of mentoring protocolsCollaborate with other district staff to develop curriculum and facilitate professional development workshops for new educatorsCreate and maintain documentation systems for tracking mentoring activities and educator progressAnalyze program effectiveness through data collection and make recommendations for improvementCollaborate with human resources to integrate induction processes with hiring and onboardingSupport educators through the licensure process including advancement to Professional level licensureManage program budget and allocate resources effectivelyStay current with research-based best practices in educator induction mentoring and instructional coachingPerform other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director of Curriculum & InstructionEducation and Experience Required:Masters degree in Education Educational Leadership or related fieldValid Massachusetts administrator license (Supervisor/Director. Principal/Asst Principal or Asst Superintendent/Superintendent)Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in K-12 settingsPrevious experience in teacher mentoring coaching or professional developmentSkills & Competencies:Knowledge of Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Framework and licensure requirementsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to build professional relationships across diverse stakeholder groupsExperience with program development and managementFamiliarity with adult learning theory and professional development designWork Year: Twelve (12) months a year 230 daysSalary Range: Salary in accordance with the Non-Union Directors Salary Schedule ($130000 to $145000)Other: ExemptBenefits: In accordance with the School Committee policy for exempt OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Lawrence Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race color religion national origin pregnancy gender identity sexual orientation marital/civil union status ancestry place of birth age citizenship status veteran status political affiliation genetic information or disability as defined and required by state and federal laws.
