Job Description

Job Title: Engineer

Introduction to role

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in UNIX administration and support for LINUX Infrastructure As an Engineer youll be at the forefront of resolving technical issues and driving impactful projects such as Service Impact Assessment Service Improvement and Root Cause Analysis. Your expertise will guide new services and provide technical assistance to team members. With a deep understanding of technology platforms like LINUX servers and virtualization youll ensure system hardware integrity handle updates and implement upgrades and patches. Youll be responsible for testing and detailing new configurations of UNIX services to support AstraZenecas architecture roadmaps. Are you prepared to lead and innovate in this dynamic environment


Accountabilities

  • Monitor alerts and handle service requests efficiently.

  • Diagnose and fix P3 & P4 end-user incidents.

  • Build and deploy servers and infrastructure services.

  • Triage and remediate P1 & P2 incidents or escalate them to senior levels.

  • Handle incident queues and create change requests.

  • Fulfill standard change requests including server builds and service catalog items.

  • Create and update Known Error documentation.


Essential Skills/Experience

  • 4 years Operational experience in UNIX (LINUX Server/Virtualization) administration

  • Experience in handling Incidents Problems changes and capacity management aspects.

  • Demonstrated ability handling large number of incidents via any ITSM tool

  • Flexibility to work in shifts on rotational basis covering Americas EMEA and ASIAPAC regions 24*7

  • An ability to work effectively in a matrix organization is crucial

  • A self-starter with high levels of drive energy resilience and a desire for professional excellence

  • Extensive Hands-on experience in two UNIX technologies: RHEL Oracle LINUX SUSE Basic AIX VMware/OVM

  • Extensive systems administration experience in various UNIX flavors LINUX AIX and their associated hardware platform.

  • Experience of managing large patch roll-outs Operating System upgrades and migrations.

  • Experience of setting up multi-node cluster in pressing timescales.

  • Management of authentication systems like LDAP VAS.

  • Good knowledge in Scripting.

  • Solve performance issues.

  • Competent in working clustering and Cloud products from various technology vendors.

  • SAN storage management on UNIX platforms.

  • Virtualization of Docker Containerization and VMware.

  • Good knowledge in implementing and streamlining activities of redesign technology and process.


Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

  • Multi years of work experience in Technical teams working in Shifts.

  • Strong process management expertise experience of ITIL or any other service delivery framework.

  • Achieve defined KPIs meeting the SLA.

  • Faster resolution of incidents in UNIX environment.

  • Apply problem management process to find the RCA and contain the outages.

  • Assist in documentation of procedures Whitepaper and process.

  • Timely remediation of audit observations to ensure compliance.

  • Improve and maintain the availability and health of UNIX estate.

  • Trend analysis of historical incidents and identification of patterns.

  • Automation of frequent BAU activities.

  • Identify opportunities to bring in efficiency through work-outs.
