Pay Rate: $22.84/hourly

Catholic Charities Head Start/ Early Head Start programs promote school readiness and family self-sufficiency through holistic services.

Catholic Charities of Baltimore Head Start is currently seeking a Temporary Head StartHome Visitor who will be responsible for organizing implementing and tracking program activities within the Health and Family and Community Partnership service areas. The incumbent works in partnership with education and disabilities team members recruits and enrolls children and develops and implements Individualized Family Partnership agreements with parents. Acts as community liaison for the program. Plans family activities and promotes family engagement. The work schedule is: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts home visits to each child or pregnant mother focusing on child development health nutrition and mental health Creates a learning environment that will appropriately nurture and support each child mother or primary partners growth and development in a manner that is consistent with Head Start and Catholic Charities Performance Standards and expectations.
  • Develops an Individual Development Plan for each child in collaboration with primary partners and monitors the progress of the plan. Maintains ongoing child assessment in collaboration with parents for home-based families. Conducts developmental vision and hearing screening on all children.
  • Organizes and conducts group socialization activities for home-based parents and children. Assists parents with transportation to program functions and to appointments.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for children with documented developmental disabilities.
  • Maintains an inventory of community services and resources. Serve as a resource for families and other staff members. Refers families to service providers in the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Home Visitor I (421000):

  • A minimum of a home based CDA credential or comparable credential or equivalent coursework as part of an associates or bachelors degree.
  • Associates Degree in social services human development or related field is preferred; a working knowledge of infant toddler development and. social work or case management experience is preferred.

Home Visitor II (443000):

  • Bachelors degree plus Home Visitor I requirements.

REQUIRMENTS & ABILITIES:

  • Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC web browsing (i.e. Chrome Internet Explorer etc.) and Microsoft Outlook skills required. Other Microsoft Office application knowledge such as Word Excel PowerPoint Skype and OneDrive desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Remaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.
  • Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience and a valid drivers license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede drivers ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
