Job Description

The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis). Please note this position may be subject to additional restrictions pursuant to the State of Ohio Drug-Free Workplace Policy (HR-39) and as outlined in the posting.

DYS is seeking a Financial Analyst at our juvenile correctional facility in Massillon OH who works under general supervision and has considerable knowledge of accounting systems & procedures.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Examine and analyze accounting records financial statements and other financial reports for accuracy completeness and compliance
  • Prepare compile and verify statistical financial accounting or auditing data reports and tables related to accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Enter transactions and submit for approval (e.g. vouchers requisitions and ISTVs)
  • Provide guidance and train new employees
  • Prepare revenue deposits
  • Research analyze and resolve transaction errors
  • Determine coding for transactions
  • Research questionable and/or unauthorized payment card transactions

30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration accounting finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Associate 66561.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.


The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background checkthat includes results from BCI & FBI Public Safety and State of Ohio individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services must partake in paid mandatory 4 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at IRJCF weeks 2 through 4 are held in Orient Ohio 10-hour training days Monday through Thursday. The state of Ohio covers transportation meals and lodging.

DYS is a qualifying employer for purposes of the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
