Your Career

The Professional Services Consultant is an integral part of our mission within our Professional Services team. As a Consultant you will provide onsite and/or remote deployment and configuration expertise relating to Palo Alto Networks solutions. You will function as the product Subject Matter Expert and will interact directly with the customers personnel and project teams providing leadership technical direction interpretation and alternatives to our best practice deployment methodology. This is a highly technical hands-on role and you will develop and maintain expertise level skill sets on our products and solutions deployed within the customers environment.

As a Professional Services Consultant youll get into the details of our platform. You will push the buttons flip the levers turn the knobs. You do not shy away from difficult challenges as it relates to cybersecurity implementations and integrations. You are the technical authority and will interact directly with our customers to help them secure their digital environments. The customers are counting on you to perform this work and train their staff. And while experience on the companys platform is desired even more important is having a solid foundation in networking and security technologies.

In fact extensive experience with a competitors technology can play to your advantage. Many of the opportunities involve a client migrating to our platform for the first time so understanding the nuances of that technology will enable you to be a better Palo Alto Networks consultant. And dont worry we will send you to our Professional Services Academy to prepare you for the role so you are experienced with our suite of services and products before you first meet the customer. 

Your Impact

Solution Implementation & Customization 

• Migrate customers from legacy firewall technologies to Palo Alto Networks platforms.
• Build custom security policies and application signatures configured for our clients needs.

Operational Support & Maintenance 

• Analyze logs and events from the solution to perform initial troubleshooting and issue identification.
• Work with our Technical Assistance Center to troubleshoot and diagnose support cases.
• Provide after hours and weekend on-call support as needed to support maintenance activities.

Technical Expertise & Service Delivery Excellence 

• Progress and uphold expertise in deploying advanced Palo Alto Networks features and functionality.
• Maintain the companys solution and provide mentorship on code upgrades and best practices.
• Ensure client needs are met and deliverables produced on time according to specified project deliverables and scope

Qualifications :

Your Experience

• 8 years of relevant work experience in Network Engineering Architecture Security Engineering technical consulting or similar roles.
• Hands-on experience with core Palo Alto Networks PANOS features & services (e.g. SSL Decryption User-ID App-ID CDL Reporting Log Forwarding AIOps).
• Hands-on experience in PKI & SSL TCP/IP BGP and IPSec.
• Detailed technical experience in the installation configuration and operation of high-end firewall appliances specifically Palo Alto Networks products.
• Strong troubleshooting skills related to networking (routing IP NAT IPSEC VPNs) and how these interact with applications and users.
• Hands-on experience with at least one Public Cloud Provider (e.g. AWS Azure GCP).
• Extensive background in internetworking LAN and WAN technologies.
• Experience with IDS/IPS solutions and technologies.
• Experience leading security solutions in large environments.
• Deep understanding of different security threats internet protocols and applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders technical peers and non-technical partners.
• Ability to work effectively with customer security & network teams to build confidence and drive adoption of Palo Alto Networks solutions.
• Proven ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously and work calmly under pressure.
• Relevant certifications such as PCNSE/PCNSC CCNP (or equivalent JNCIP-ENT/CCIE/CCDE) CISSP or CCIE/JNCIE
• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications experience and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $126000 - $189000/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
