Description

Job Title: Student Account Associate

Reports to: Manager of Student Accounts

Job Type: Full-time non-exempt

Job Location: University of Lynchburg

JOB PURPOSE:

First point of contact for student account related questions or concerns. Fields inquires and delegates as needed. Provides student account services and collects on student accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assists students parents and third-party payees in financial matters related to student accounts.
  • Answers questions from parents regarding tuition and financial matters through letters phone conversation or direct contact and enters electronic notes or documents with each contact.
  • Responds to voice mail messages on a daily basis.
  • Assists Collections/Refund Coordinator with daily student account collections efforts.
  • Handles all front-end communication to students regarding their billing late fees and due dates.
  • Handles all third-party billing and creates itemized statements and receipts as needed.
  • Jointly responsible for maintenance and operation of computer-based accounts receivable for address changes etc.
  • Enters miscellaneous charges such as parking tickets parking permits student let in ID replacements and health service fees.
  • Participates in fall and spring orientation and check-in as needed.
  • Assists the Manager of Student Accounts with the 1098T process by ensuring all supplies are ordered well in advance. This role will also help in all aspects of this role including preparing the inserts prior to printing and mailing.
  • Assists Solutions Center Director and Solutions Center specialists with in-person inquiries.
  • Performs any other related duties as may be required.

ORAL OR WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS:

Good oral and writing skills for effective communication by telephone or direct personal contact and for creating reports and memos to students.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is usually performed sitting with little standing. The normal work schedule is 37.5 hours per week. Some additional time may be required at the beginning of each semester. Time constraints and pressure are expected during peak times.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Two years of a customer service background with computer experience. Experience in Google Suite and/or Colleague are preferred. Experience in Google Suite and Microsoft Office (especially Google sheets and Excel) and/or Colleague are preferred.
