Job Description

The Assistant Vice President and Dean of the Center for Academic Success provides strategic direction leadership and vision for the Academic Success areas in Student Services (Career Center Center for Academic Success Academic Resource Center ROTC Transfer Student Center and Academic Support for Student Athletes). This position is responsible for the oversight and outcomes of Seton Hall Universitys first-year program and the Student Success Team. This position reports to the Vice President of Student Services and is part of senior leadership within the Division.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Oversees academic advising and assessment for first-year students including supervision of Student Success Advisors and University Life curriculum in the Center for Academic Success. Can serve as a University Life Instructor (as needed).
- Operationalizes admissions retention and success programs for first-year programs including special cohorts such as Pirate Pathways Transfer Center and students beyond 30 credits.
- Collaborates closely with Academic Affairs and other campus and divisional partners to ensure students have seamless orientation advising and curricular experience.
- Represents Student Services on various University Committees including Academic Affairs Enrollment Management and other campus partners.
- Chairs and provides direction for The Council for Student Success and SHU Reads! Summer Reading Program.
- Responsible for budget creation oversight management and allocation of funds for Academic Success areas in the Division.
- Coordinates and manages early alert platform (Compass) including coordinating leadership meetings trainings reports and data analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

- 5-8 years of progressive leadership experience
- Deep understanding of higher education trends and college student success factors that influence retention/ graduation
- Proven success and experience managing and directing first-year experience programs
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrates executive presence and professionalism
- Visionary and inclusive leadership practices
- Ability to solve complex problems collaboratively
- Masters degree in Education Counseling or a similar discipline

Desired Qualifications:

- Working knowledge of Banner Student Information System EAB Navigate

Salary Grade:

AD190 - Administrative

Exempt/Nonexempt:Exempt
