Job Title: CTE Business Education & Marketing Teacher East Valley High School 1.0 FTE
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day 184 days per year starting at the beginning of the 2025/2026 school year.
Salary: East Valley Certificated Salary Schedule $56397 - $113589 depending on placement per degree credits and experience.

Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the principal or designee this teaching position will plan instruction teach motivate inspire and assess students in CTE Business and Marketing Education. This teaching position will promote a high-quality education program that reflects state standards.
Essential Job Functions:
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
- Lead project-based education programs in business and marketing education.
- Teach courses in business and marketing education.
- Build connections with students and staff and develop effective business and community partnerships.
- Perform daily operations for business and marketing education projects.
- Expose students to careers related to business and marketing education.
- Advise and lead DECA FBLA or similar student organization including supervising student competitions and events.
- Teach leadership employability and effective communication skills.
- Complete paperwork and reports efficiently and on time.
- Implement and evaluate career and technical education programs and materials.
- Develop lesson plans using district curriculum and instructional program guidelines.
- Work independently organize tasks set priorities meet deadlines make sound decisions and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
- Integrate competencies goals and objectives into lessons.
- Teach using various methodologies.
- Demonstrate effective teaching strategies and a thorough understanding of the instructional process.
- Utilize inquiry-based hands-on approaches.
- Manage classroom behavior with clear parameters and consistent respectful responses.
- Meet course and school-wide performance goals.
- Create a positive educational climate.
- Provide social and academic guidance.
- Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Promote district goals through parent conferences and related activities.
- Communicate with parents and school personnel regarding student progress.
- Observe and evaluate student performance.
- Maintain appropriate student records.
- Participate in grade-level PLC and use data to support student growth.
- Pursue professional growth through coursework workshops and reading.
- Exhibit flexibility high-stress tolerance reliability punctuality and confidentiality.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Maintain a consistent presence at the assigned work site(s) and work the regular work hours specified by the contract.
- Professionally interact with a diverse range of colleagues members of the public and students.
- Comply with and uphold all district policies and all applicable laws.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Business Finance or Marketing preferred.
- Demonstrate understanding and ability to implement a trauma informed learning environment where the needs of the whole child are accounted for in classroom design.
- Knowledge and experience with Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs).
- Proficient in Photoshop and HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
- Understand and apply current educational developments and instructional methodologies.
- Flexible in learning new concepts and adapting to a variety of assignments and conditions.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms.
- Display enthusiasm optimism and motivation towards teaching and student learning.
- Participate in school district and community events.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds or 33% of body weight whichever is less.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate no later than the first contracted day of the 2025/2026 school year with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations;
OR
- CTE Certificate directly related to the teaching assignment.
OR
- Demonstrate eligibility to obtain CTE Conditional certification by meeting all requirements for those using the business and industry route to an initial certificate listed in WAC. Required documentation includes:
- 6000 hours of occupational experience related to the appropriate V-Code.
- 2000 of those hours must be within the past ten years otherwise candidates need an additional 300 hours of relevant paid or volunteer experience within the past two years.
- Experience teaching at the high school level or industry experience preferred.
- Required to have or obtain a current First Aid/CPR card.
- Experience teaching in diverse classrooms or working in the industry.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
- Valid Washington State drivers license or evidence of mobility.
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later).
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
- Completion of all district required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and may be exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
Evaluation:
The CTE Business Education & Marketing Teacher shall be evaluated per the terms of the East Valley Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. The process shall include an evaluation of the employees performance of the above essential job functions and desired skills.
