An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilledEcology Managerto join our ambitious and forward-thinkingClimate and Environment ServiceatWiltshire Council.
Our Ecology team plays a vital role in protecting and enhancing Wiltshires natural and historic environment. We are committed to restoring wildlife habitats enabling nature recovery and supporting sustainable well-designed growth that benefits people biodiversity and the climate. From improving countryside access to safeguarding key ecological sites our Service is shaping a greener more resilient Wiltshire.
As Ecology Manager you will lead a large team of ecologists and environmental specialists providing expert advice and strategic direction across the Council. Youll represent the service at senior-level meetings and external forums championing nature recovery and well considered sustainable development. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate leader to drive performance influence policy and deliver real impact for people and nature.
Were looking for an experiencedEcologistwith a strong understanding of the planning system particularly the role of ecology within local planning authorities. Youll bring in-depth knowledge of theHabitats Regulations relevant case law and strategic mitigation approaches to ensure development aligns with environmental legislation and best practice.
Ideally youll have experience in a similar role within a Local Authority. As the lead for policy and development youll be dynamic self-motivated and confident working with a wide range of stakeholders cross-border authorities and statutory bodies. Youll be a clear communicator a natural problem-solver and a collaborative leader.
