If you are looking to build a strong career we have an opportunity for you! We are searching for a Senior Packaging Engineer to join our team located at our corporate headquarters in Lake Forest IL.

Responsibilities

Your Role:

Design develop specify and test packaging which protects and satisfactorily delivers the product to the consumer under the following guidelines:

  • Satisfies Marketing objectives.
  • Meets profitability guidelines.
  • Technically functional.
  • Innovative with a point of difference to the consumer.

You will have the opportunity to Make Great Things Happen!

  • Lead material explorations derived from inputs provided by cross-functional teams confirming packaging and project feasibility.
  • Utilize GS1 standards to create packaging specifications defining component dimensions weights and orientation.
  • Populate bill of materials for complex display packaging comprised of 20 or more components.
  • Support a high quantity of commercialization projects executing packaging engineering deliverables within condensed and expedited deadlines.
  • Employ palletizing software to generate pallet plans that abide by customer requirements supply chain constraints and weight limitations.
  • Conduct ISTA shipping trials defining the test plan establishing defect definitions test inputs and acceptance criteria.
  • Champion sustainability stewardship by driving innovation to increase recyclability recycled content and material reduction for existing or new packaging components.
  • Identify process gaps and engineer remedies that streamlined cross-functional efficiency reduce waste and minimize project risk.
  • Projected minimum of 10% travel to internal plants and vendors.

Qualifications

We need you to have:

  • Extensive experience devising dynamic consumer facing packaging such as half-pallet displays club displays RRP PDQ trays and floor stand displays.
  • Deep understanding of design principles converting processes and high-speed packing equipment.
  • Ability to facilitate packaging and manufacturing deliverables with outsourced suppliers and co-packers.
  • High degree of creativity capability to work both independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Can efficiently prioritize a large quantity projects and cross-functional requests with the flexibility to adapt to changing time constraints.
  • Adept or expert knowledge on the manufacturing and printing process for a range of packaging materials such as: paperboard corrugated poly bags and adhesive labels.
  • Proficient with the following software suite:
    • OEM - Specright and SAP.
    • Palletizing TOPS and CAPE.
    • CAD - ArtiosCAD.
  • Bachelor of Science in Packaging Engineering or equivalent education.
  • 10 years of professional experience as a Packaging Engineer.

Icing on the cake:

  • Certified Packaging Professional (CPP).
