Job Description
New Westminster Schools Career Opportunity TRADES HELPER - CARPENTER (TEMPORARY)
JOB FUNCTION:
- Reports to the Director of Facilities & Operations or designate
- Assists the various tradesmen with indoor and outdoor tasks
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled and other tasks related to the maintenance repair and upkeep of school district buildings grounds and equipment
- Assists tradesmen with major repairs renovations and other assignments as required
- Other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 graduation
- Valid BC Drivers licence
- Some demonstrated carpentry experience
- Ability to perform at a basic standard of workmanship in the trade
- Knowledge of basic carpentry practices methods materials tools and equipment (hand tools and power tools table saw drill etc.)
- Ability in basic use of the tools and equipment of the trade
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to plan and carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff students and the communi
Hours of Work & Salary:
- 40 hours per week Monday - Friday 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m.
- Temporary Assignment ending August 29 2025 with possibility of extension
- $30.55 per hour
