THE OPPORTUNITY: DIRECTOR RECRUITMENT AND STAFFING EMPLOYEE SERVICES

Reporting to the Executive Director Employee Services the Director of Recruitment and Staffing Employee Services leads the Recruitment Staffing (teaching/support staff) and absence coverage/dispatch portfolios and has overall responsibilities for ensuring staffing levels and process are aligned to approved budget allocations and collective agreement obligations respectively and that employee recruitment reflects best practices that are sensitive to and reflective of labour market conditions. The Director provides strategic leadership to two managers and their teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES


CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree(s) in Education with a relevant professional designations is required. A relevant graduate level degree is considered an asset. Candidates that are educators must possess a valid teaching certificate issued by the Teachers Regulation Branch (TRB) of British Columbia.
  • Experience- Demonstrated leadership experience of ten or more years within the publicly-funded K-12 sector with a track record of professional accomplishments and successes in human resources related roles or parallel experience with other complex highly unionized public sector organizations.
  • Strong professional knowledge in best human resource practices labour relations legislation and issues within publicly funded education.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and lead high performance teams and manage complex issues or projects in a fast-paced intense environment.
  • Strong emotional intelligence political acumen and interpersonal skills to manage and foster trusting working relationships with rightsholders stakeholders school administrators colleagues and staff.
  • Strong project management and planning skills with a demonstrated ability to meet established timelines and budgetary parameters.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including the ability to speak listen and write in a clear thorough and professional manner utilizing appropriate communication tools and platforms.
  • Ability to strategically assess situations to determine their priority importance urgency and risks and make objective and clear decisions consistent with organizational goals.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to ethically manage mentor and support unionized and exempt staff through the lens of succession planning.
  • In-depth working knowledge of technology and software to manage staffing allocations and processes.
  • Strong ability to work independently exercise sound professional judgement set goals develop action plans track progress and evaluate results.

COMPENSATION

The compensation package will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The salary range for the position is $169193 to $187992 and a competitive benefits package and paid time off. Further details can be provided through the recruitment and selection process.
