As part of our Strategy & Business Operations team the Technical Product Owner is responsible for ensuring one of AFPs core grassroots engagement platforms i360 evolves to meet the organizations highest-impact needs. Acting as a strategic bridge between AFPand developers this role translates ideas and feedback into action
In this role you will gather requirements across departments prioritize work based on strategic business value (not individual preferences) and communicate decisions with clarity and confidence. You must be comfortable operating at both the tactical and strategic levels turning todays feedback into tomorrows vision while always weighing the downstream effects of technical changes.
How You Will Contribute
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to create clear actionable user stories
- Translate high-level goals into features and workflows developers can execute
- Maintain a prioritized product backlog that reflects both near-term needs and long-term strategy
- Evaluate competing feature requests and seek and share knowledge to make informed decisions about which requests have the highest probability of advancing our strategic goals
- Ensure development decisions align with broader goals like improving volunteer retention data quality field efficiency or platform adoption
- Assess downstream impact. Anticipate how platform changes may affect workflows analytics data governance and user behavior balancing immediate needs with long-term system health
- Coordinate for technical alignment. Partner with capabilities across the Stand Together community to ensure technical feasibility prevent negative ripple effects and align on scalable solutions
- Communicate with clarity and respect. Explain product decisions and trade-offs to staff at all levels tailoring the message to the audience and maintaining alignment
- Engage feedback constructively. Share updates regularly through meetings and documentation and use critical feedback as an opportunity to learn and grow. Coordinate with i360 and internal developers to scope build and refine platform enhancements
- Work closely with the Product Specialist Technical Trainer and Implementation team to test and launch new tools
What You Will Bring
- Experience managing projects gathering requirements and working with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum Jira and/or CRM systems
