The Steward plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas within the establishment. As a key member of the hospitality team the Steward ensures that all dishes utensils and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized contributing to a safe and excellent dining experience for guests. This position goes beyond basic cleanliness; it involves actively supporting kitchen operations collaborating with chefs and helping to maintain inventory levels.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize all dishes glassware utensils pots and pans.
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas including floors countertops and storage units.
- Help in the preparation area by getting ingredients ready as required by chefs.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of dining room and banquet areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins regularly to maintain hygiene standards.
- Keep inventory of cleaning supplies and report low stock levels to management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all cleaning practices.
- Support kitchen staff during peak times by providing assistance as needed.
- Assist with receiving and storing food and supplies delivered to the kitchen.
- Maintain orderly storage spaces and ensure proper labeling of kitchen items.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to improve job performance.
- Help in serving food during busy hours when necessary.
