Position Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining a book of business with a high degree of underwriting acumen and communication skills including relationship building with broker partners. They will renew retention with a focus on rate profitability and acceptable exposure review. Program Underwriter II will be responsible for achieving the Golf Program New Business Goals both premium and profitability. They must continue to develop their professional skills to communicate negotiate and understand coverage forms and general P&C industry trends. This role requires a team player to focus on the outcome of the department and company goals.
Reporting to:Director of Underwriting Golf
Working Location:Remote with quarterly visits to main campus in Waterloo IA
Work Hours Classification:Fulltime MondayFriday 85pm CST with additional hours as needed
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage the renewal book of assigned accounts focusing on rates profitability and acceptable exposure review
- Build relationships and work toward business growth goals whiling having a salesminded drive
- Perform multilines underwriting services including but not limited to general liability liquor liability property and excess
- Communicate and negotiate with brokers internal staff and carrier partners to meet business needs
- Underwrite and understand exposures of typical Golf Courses & Country Clubs from GL Liquor Property SAM Pollution and Excess coverage perspectives
- Demonstrate high accuracy and speed rating quoting and issuing all renewal policies
- Analyze and assess risks to provide creative and effective insurance solutions
- Improve knowledge and acumen of coverage forms exposures and loss trends to be an effective multiline underwriter
- Build professional relationships by communicating with brokers and meeting mutually desired objectives with a focus on golf industry brokers for strong retention on golfrelated accounts.
- Establish strong professional relationships with carrier partners key underwriting and sales partners understand coverage appetite and submission process particularly for golf courses and country clubs.
- Demonstrate professional tactful negotiation skills particularly in the context of golf insurance.
- Maintain strong knowledge and expertise of property and casualty insurance including coverages rating terminology and technical procedures specifically related to golf courses and country clubs.
- Maintain an understanding of ISO rules and rates with specific application to golf course and country club insurance.
- Ensure that all regulatory compliance and transparency requirements are met and complies with all internal policies and procedures with a focus on golf industry standards.
Position Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- 5 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience
- Achieve P&C Licensure within 30 days of employment
- Expertise in multiline underwriting including but not limited to general liability property and excess.
- Proven success with building strong relationships with brokers and retail agents
- Experience developing creative risk solutions

- Moving throughout the VGM facilities when needed.
