In this position you will report to the Senior Editor Journalism and will primarily serve as a research journalist contributing notably to investigative reporting and preparing the planned coverage and deployments throughout the year across our various platforms as well as interview plans. You must be able to gather large volumes of information on multiple topics and synthesize it into comprehensive dossiers. You will also monitor court proceedings and maintain a network of contacts with lawyers. Additionally you will be responsible for managing the stations Access to Information requests. This role demands adaptability the ability to work under pressure and a wide professional network.
The schedule is Monday to Friday 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (may vary according to production needs).
You must have strong knowledge of the Estrie region and its key figures and demonstrate creativity initiative and professionalism. As a research journalist you must be capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously and be highly organized. You will also be expected to adhere to CBC/RadioCanadas Journalistic Standards and Practices.
Your profile:
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in journalism or another relevant field
Three (3) years of experience in journalism
Skills:
Excellent knowledge of current events in the Estrie region
Broad general culture
Strong command of research techniques and tools
Wellestablished uptodate network of professional contacts
Onair confidence particularly in radio
Ability to work independently and as part of a team showing resourcefulness
Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Familiarity with the Corporations journalistic standards and practices
Excellent command of French both spoken and written
Intermediate oral and reading proficiency and beginner written proficiency in English (asset)
A valid drivers license is required
Availability for nonstandard hours
