DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Environmental Protection Specialist serves as the Recycling and Planning Coordinator within the SEROs Waste Management Program. This role requires a high level of expertise in solid waste management particularly focusing on planning and recycling initiatives. The specialist provides essential technical assistance and professional support tailored to the needs of the Department ensuring that the goals and priorities related to solid waste management are met. This includes facilitating compliance with relevant statutes regulations policies and guidance. The specialists knowledge is made available on an asneeded basis reinforcing the Departments commitment to effective waste management practices and promoting sustainable solutions within the community.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Fulltime employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime up to 3 days a week. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required for trainings meetings and conferences.
- Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $58035 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:- One year of experience as a journeylevel specialist in a waste management program;or
- Two years of experience in environmental protection and a bachelors degree with major course work in biology chemistry or in a field closely related to environmental protection. A masters degree with major course work in any of the fields closely related to environmental protection may be substituted for one year of the required experience;or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges and abilities.
Special Requirements:- This position requires possession of avalid motor vehicle operators license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
