Job Description

Job Title: Head of Clinical Negligence & EL/PL Departments

Location: Macclesfield UK

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Senior Manager to join our senior management team and spearhead the strategic growth and operational excellence of our Clinical Negligence (Clin Neg) and Employers Liability/Public Liability (EL/PL) departments. This is a pivotal role for a resultsoriented individual with a strong background in either Personal Injury (PI) or Clinical Negligence coupled with proven leadership capabilities within the UK legal sector. You will be instrumental in driving performance fostering a highperforming team and contributing to the overall success of the firm based in Macclesfield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Clinical Negligence and EL/PL departments aligning with the firms overall objectives and the UK legal landscape.
  • Lead manage and mentor a team of fee earners and support staff within both departments fostering a collaborative and highperformance culture within our Macclesfield office.
  • Drive departmental performance through effective target setting performance monitoring and implementation of best practices relevant to the UK legal market.
  • Develop and implement strategies for business development and growth within the Clinical Negligence and EL/PL sectors in the UK.
  • Ensure the delivery of highquality legal services and exceptional client care within both departments adhering to UK professional standards.
  • Oversee complex and highvalue cases providing expert guidance and support to the team in accordance with UK law and procedure.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively for the Macclesfield office.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the UK legal context.
  • Contribute actively as a member of the senior management team participating in strategic planning and decisionmaking for the firm in the UK.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK legal and regulatory requirements including SRA regulations.
  • Stay abreast of changes in UK legislation and case law relevant to Clinical Negligence and EL/PL.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified legal professional (Solicitor or Barrister) admitted in England and Wales.
  • Minimum of 5 years postqualification experience with a demonstrable strong background in either Personal Injury (PI) or Clinical Negligence within the UK legal system.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading legal teams within a UK law firm with the ability to motivate and develop individuals.
  • A strong understanding of the legal and commercial aspects of Clinical Negligence and/or EL/PL litigation in the UK.
  • Demonstrated success in driving performance and achieving targets within the UK legal market.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and negotiation skills relevant to the UK legal profession.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities within the context of UK law.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a senior management team in a UKbased firm.
  • Experience in business development and client relationship management within the UK legal sector is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in relevant UK case management systems and technology.
