Assistant Director of Early Learning

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in education
  • Massachusetts Certification in Early Childhood PreK3 / or PreK2 with or without disabilities or Reading preferred.
  • Five years of successful teaching experience in an urban district
  • Demonstrated experience in the writing and fiscal management of
  • Administrative experience

PERFORMANCE REPSONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate/Coordinate PKK curriculum and instruction with school personnel in the central office and in the schools (principals assistant directors directors curriculum and instructional support teachers etc.).Ensure the vertical and horizontal articulation of curriculum and instruction at the Grades 1 and 2 levels.
  • Assure compliance with all Common Core early childhood education standards and grant requirements.
  • Manage/supervise/conduct standardsbased early childhood professional development including collaboration and integration with the MLE Officeand Special Education Department.
  • Collaborate/Coordinate the training and implementation ofEarly Literacy Screener as part of the districts benchmark assessment.
  • Collaborate/Coordinate with other district personnel in the construction implementation and data analysis of assessments to provide continuous feedback on student progress toward benchmark and common core standards.
  • Serve on internal school review teams (SIP teams leadership teams Learning Walks etc.) to analyze data for the preparation and implementation of action plans in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Develop prepare submit and serve as a convener for all present and future early childhood grants inclusive of grant expenditures and providing reports as required by the district/state.
  • Implement preschool and kindergarten screening procedures in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and the regulations of the School Committee.
  • Collaborate with community human service agencies and other public and private programs relative to early childhood education.
  • Develop and implement publicity and public relations for all early childhood grant programs and activities.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff at offsitePKK programs.
  • Supervise and evaluate instructional and noninstructional grant funded staff
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent/Deputy Superintendent/Director of Early Learning.

DAYS: Twelvemonth position

HOURS: Regular hours: 7:45 3:45 MTh; 7:452:45 Friday

Summer and school vacation hours; 7:452:45 MTh; 7:4512:45 Friday

SALARY: To Be Determined
