POSITION TITLE: Head High School Baseball Coach with Teaching Assignment
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of Education andArkansas Activities Association/NFHS Coaches Education Program
REPORTS TO: Building Level Principal and Athletic Director
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 220 days with benefits provided according to Siloam SpringsSchool Board policies.
ESSENTIAL COACHING FUNCTIONS:
- Display loyalty to the principal athletic director and the athletic department.
- Supervise athletes and assigned team.
- Assist with supervising all athletes in program.
- Help plan and supervise any special needs/events (awards night parent meeting community service etc.).
- Make suggestions and recommendations to help the program.
- Display sportsmanship towards opponents officials parents and team through appropriate behavior.
- Follow rules and regulations in the Siloam Springs Athletic Department Coaches and AAA Handbooks.
- Help plan and conduct daily practices for assigned team.
- Attend preseason organizational meetings as assigned by the athletic director.
- Assist in organizing and running of invitational or AAA tournaments and regular season meets.
- Attend professional development activities and remain current to new coaching strategies.
- Attend all interscholastic contests for assigned team.
ESSENTIAL TEACHING FUNCTIONS
- Participate in curriculum review and design.
- Implementa variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Effectively implement district initiatives.
- Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education and coaching.
