Electronics Engineer Teacher
The teacher for the Electronics Program reports to the Director of Career and Technical Education. This 10month full time teaching position provides students the experience of learning from instructors in a collaborative Project Based Learning environment.
The responsibilities of the Electronics teacher include but are not limited to;
- Implementing and developing Chapter 74Mass state competency based curriculum for the Electronics Career pathway.
- The curriculum will involve all aspects of the Electronics Industry including but not limited to: safety tools theory and application of electronics applied engineering electronic circuit assembly software application applied electronic devices in manufacturing provide information or drawings about devices equipment or structures and repair and maintain electronic equipment.
- Work independently and with colleagues to teach & maintain a program of study that meets all requirements of Chapter 74 regulations and prepares students for learning all aspects of the Electronics Industry.
- Collaborate with cluster exploratory teachers to ensure all exploratory students learn and earn their safety certificate employability skills industry and technology skills and career exploration.
- Adapting curriculum and Project Based Learning effectively and efficiently for a diverse student population including students with special needs disabilities and limited proficiency in English.
- Instruction must be compliant with all health and safety regulations. Provide the latest safety training and instruction for students to earn their OSHA certification.
- Develop and maintain a network of business professionals in the Electronics Industry as per the Program Advisory Committee requirements. Effectively meet with an active Program Advisory Committee that meets a minimum of twice annually.
- Perform the duties of a teacher including maintaining attendance grades and other duties associated with being a faculty member at Waltham High School.
- Maintain all Electronics equipment in good working order including planning and implementing appropriate upgrades to technology and other equipment to reflect industry trends and standards.
Job Requirements
Qualifications: Qualified applicants must forward cover letter resume transcripts proof of MA DESE CVTE license as an Electronics teacher (or be working toward it) and SEI Endorsement as well as three current letters of recommendation
- A clear understanding of G.L. Chapter 74 regulations; A thorough knowledge of how to teach the competencies and standards of the Electronics Frameworks;Manufacturing Engineering and Technology Cluster
- Four (4) years (within the last 7 years) fulltime employment experience directly related to Electronics.
- Successful experience with and/or a strong commitment to Cultural Proficiency and the success of all students in a diverse urban population.
- Demonstrated capacity to modify instruction to help meet the needs of all students enrolled in Electronics. Experience and demonstrate competence in all aspects of the Electronics Industry.
- Experience in training students towards eligibility for the OSHA 10hour card.
Salary: As per the WEA contract.
