Your role

In this role you will report to the Associate Managing Editor and will primarily serve as a research journalist for the morning show Par ici lInfo. You will also support the afternoon show Vivement le retour. Depending on your experience you may also be onair for this show.

You will be responsible for proposing relevant topics and content developing original interview angles and finding compelling guests who will engage our audience and help us stand out in the Estrie market. You will also be responsible for enhancing our show content on digital platforms. This position requires adaptability the ability to work under pressure and a strong network of contacts.

The regular schedule is Sunday to Thursday from 9:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. but it may vary depending on production needs.

You must have strong knowledge of the Estrie region and its key figures and demonstrate creativity initiative and professionalism. As a research journalist you must be capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously and be highly organized. You will also be expected to adhere to CBC/RadioCanadas Journalistic Standards and Practices.

Your profile:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in journalism or any other relevant field

  • Three (3) years of experience in the field of journalism

Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of current events in the Estrie region

  • Broad general knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of research methods and tools

  • Wellestablished and uptodate professional network

  • Onair confidence particularly for radio

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with resourcefulness

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Familiarity with the Corporations journalistic standards and practices

  • Excellent command of French both spoken and written

  • Intermediate oral and reading proficiency and beginner written proficiency in English (an asset)

  • A valid drivers license is required

  • Willingness to work nonstandard hours
