Organization:
SPMFSutter Pacific Medical Foundation SouthPosition Overview:
Responsible for assisting with assigning work to staff and daytoday operations. Provides functional guidance and direction to the authorization staff. Maintains statistics for the department and ensures established turnaround times are adhered to. Reviews daily work volumes of the referral pools and distributes work accordingly. Reviews modifies and researches as directed to make recommendations to update policies and procedures to improve referral and authorization processing.Job Description:
EDUCATION:
HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
4 years recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Medical terminology Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)/Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS)/International Classification of Diseases (ICD)9 coding knowledge.
Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology as well as an understanding of healthcare insurance.
Knowledge of computers: Excel and Word proficient; and skill in the operation of other office equipment.
Organizational interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Able to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all protected health information and display appropriate discretion concerning private information including staff productivity.
Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs regulations and application processes (e.g. Medicare MediCal Social Security Disability Champus Supplemental Security Income Disability etc.) managed care contracts and coordination of benefits.

Pay Range is $35.14 to $43.91 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidates experience education skills licensure and certifications department equity training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
