JOB TITLE: PeriAnesthesi Medical Assistant (PRN)
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for performing or assisting with a variety of tasks in a clinical setting including: assisting patient with basic needs monitoring vital signs assisting with mobility patient preparation for procedure performing patient EKGs sterile technique routine disinfection of clinical care areas between patients medications and injections procedures. Communicates with patients perianesthesia staff and anesthesia
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Clinical duties include rooming surgical patients and assisting with presurgical preparations such as taking medical histories recording vital signs preliminary preparation of the surgical site (clipping hair/cleaning area) explaining treatment procedures to patients and preparing patients for examination/procedure.
- Prepares rooms for patient visits; measures vital signs data collection and appropriately documents information.
- Performs patient EKGs and reports abnormal findings to the anesthesia/clinical team.
- Assists with patient discharge from the post anesthesia care unit.
- Anticipates/sets up special equipment and/or supplies needed for the visit.
- Cleans and prepares room for the next
- Responds to needs to expedite visits and keep on schedule.
- Adheres to hand hygiene and standard precaution guidelines.
- Provides care appropriate to the age group of patients in practice setting and documents data per practice protocols ageappropriate vital signs measurements.
- Perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the department running smoothly.
- Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION:
- Certification required (CMA Pharmacy Tech CNA and/or EMT)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior health care experience and/or training is preferred.
