GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The elementary school teacher plans implements and evaluates learning programs and activities to maximize the learning of each individual student consistent with District goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement and support the philosophy goals objectives and policies of the district and school
- Assess pupil needs and capabilities
- Provide appropriate learning activities
- Maintain appropriate student records
- Evaluate pupil achievement towards meeting mastery of the California State Content Standards
- Maintain standards of pupil behavior that provide an orderly and productive classroom and school environment and are conducive to learning
- Collaborate with other staff members in meeting pupil needs establishing common assessments and providing effective curriculum
- Follow district learning continuums and established course of study
- Teach the California State Content Standards as described in the frameworks for the grade level the teacher is assigned
- Perform attendance count
- Assist in selection and requisition of instructional media supplies and equipments as well as maintaining required inventory records
- Control material resources to prevent loss or abuse
- Assist in formulation and implementation of school policies and procedures
- Attend school and district inservice and informational meetings when appropriate and reasonable
- Perform nonclassroom supervision when equitable and reasonably assigned
- Understand the process for reporting child abuse when suspected
- Perform other appropriate duties related to this job description as assigned by the principal
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD emphasis or English Language Learner Authorization Certification;
- Possession of a Bachelors Degree or higher;
- Must meet Federal teacher competency highly qualified teacher requirements under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).

- The California State Content Standards (K8);
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Standards for the Teaching Profession;
- Have an understanding of the different modalities of learning;
- Possess a willingness to work in a collaborative setting within the elementary school;
- Have or be willing to acquire knowledge of State Education Code as well as that of the local school district and its policies.
- Have a working understanding of computer and technology applications effective interpersonal communication skills good judgment and sound decisionmaking;
- Commitment to confidentiality of sensitive materials;
- Understanding of SDAIE teaching strategies;
- Flexibility and receptivity to change;
- Maintenance of cooperative and professional working relationships with peers students administration and all other school and district personnel.
PREEMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- A current and valid Tuberculosis (TB) clearance;
- Fingerprint clearance for school personnel;
- Possession and maintenance of a valid and appropriate California Drivers License; have an acceptable driving record; and be insurable at standard rates by the districts insurance carrier and maintain such insurability during the course of employment.
