Job Description

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta serving the education needs of approximately 17950 students in 42 schools. Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a fulltime (1.0 FTE) Junior and Senior HighScience and Math Teacher at Lamont High.

Lamont High serves approximately 350 students in grades 7 to 12 with 20 teaching staff and 13 support staff. The school is located in Lamont AB approximately 60 kilometres northeast of Sherwood Park AB.

A masters degree in counselling and registered or provisional psychologist status is preferred. Consideration will be given to applicants presently working on a masters in this area. A minimum of five years of teaching experience education in psychology or a related discipline with a focus on counselling and Violent Threat Risk Assessment Training (VTRA) would be considered an asset.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Effective organization and classroom management skills
  • Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe supported and challenged
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
  • Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
