The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for an English Language Development (ELD) ParaprofessionalatRadio Park ElementarySchool. Depending on caseloads additional support at other district buildings may also be included in this role. Direction on this would be provided by building principal(s) the ELD Department Coordinator and/or the Director of Equity Inclusion and Belonging.
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible ELD Paraprofessional to support the instructional and academic needs of English Learners (ELs) in collaboration with the ELD teacher and general education staff. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing lessons adapting curriculum and providing individualized or smallgroup support to help EL students access core content and develop their English language proficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the ELD teacher in the delivery of language instruction and classroom activities.
Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lessons and materials to meet the needs of English Learners.
Provide direct instructional support to students individually or in small groups under the supervision of licensed staff.
Assist in the implementation of differentiated instructional strategies to support language acquisition and academic achievement.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to instructional staff.
Support students in classroom routines transitions and behavior expectations.
Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and resources.
Maintain confidentiality of student information and schoolrelated matters.
Exhibit flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the ELD teacher or school administration.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary coursework in education or related field preferred.
Experience working with English Learners is highly desirable but not required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow directions adapt to changing situations and take initiative when needed.
Demonstrated cultural competency and a commitment to supporting a diverse student population.
Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus but not required.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in a variety of classroom settings with students of varying English proficiency levels. The role requires collaboration patience and a strong commitment to student learning.
Grade B; 7 Hours/Day; 181 Days/Year
