KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as the GIS focal point for the Ukraine Country Office (CO).
Support and maintain the development of both static and dynamic map applications for the CO.
Maintain and update databases of operational information and map geospatial
operational information (access areas per activity distribution points warehouses etc.)
Maintain and improve all the webmap applications and GIS dashboards available in the CO
Update and produce weekly distribution overview summary map and respond to adhoc map generating needs in accordance to WFP standards
Participate in coordination meetings as necessary and support the clusters in GIS related activities and processes.
Support rapid impact analysis and mapping (both static and dynamic) for WFP Ukraine operations during sudden changes to the frontline and the rest of the country due to the war as needed (JULIA)
Working with the various units producing data support the Information Management team with data management processes to ensure data quality and integrity
Liaise with HQ and MENAEE to support in uploading Ukraine related data maps and associated materials to the common GIS space and linked to WFPs operations website (OpWEB) as needed
Assist with producing relevant technical documentation and presentations as needed
Undertake support missions to the FOs as required
Support teams internal and external communication activities
Supervise the national GIS officer and a standby partner (GIS officer)
Any other duties as required by the team
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in geospatial related field or first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses. Additional years of experience is an asset.
Knowledge & Skills:
Familiar with WFPs structure and work and WFP specific GIS architecture
Proven experience in using ArcGIS (desktop and online) for spatial analysis and mapping; experience using QGIS highly desirable
Proven experience in spatial data collection and management
Experience working in humanitarian context is highly desirable
Experience in GISrelated programming (ArcPy or equivalent) to automate regular tasks is desirable
Ability to work independently and within a team
Courtesy tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing Professional working proficiency in English is required. Working knowledge in Ukrainian is a plus.
