Systems Support Specialist
Primary Function: Provide technical support for all types of issues affecting end users such as software problems network breakdowns and hardware failures. Responsible for the user management system and maintaining and reviewing user/system accounts. Responsible for managing the Microsoft 365 suite of products and the many tools it provides.
Administrative Responsibilities: - Provide user technical support and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 network and computer issues and questions.
- Manage Microsoft 365 security suite of products.
- Regularly schedule attack simulations for end user compliance and testing
- Responsible for Microsoft 365 SSO and authentication integration with other campus products.
- Manage IT systems for new employee and new student onboarding including Active Directory and Microsoft Entra.
- Research and test new systems and tools.
- Assist with network administration.
- Manage wireless and wired authentication methods.
- Work with Internet service providers.
- Responsible for core firewalls (i.e. Fortinet).
- Work with other IT personnel on user service level processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A - Financial Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chief Information Officer with developing network plan and related budgeting.
Other Responsibilities: - Promote a positive image of Hanover College and represent the College in accordance with the Colleges mission principles and strategic plan.
- Support a welcoming College environment.
- Respond to emergency network firewall authentication issues and other critical issues when and as necessary.
- Perform / complete other projects and tasks assigned by Chief Information Officer.
Qualifications:
Education Certifications Training Experience - Bachelors degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years IT systems or related support knowledge and experience preferred
Skills Competencies Abilities - Must possess skills in most areas of computing (i.e. programming analyzing data and procedures computer operation and repair communications)
- Must be able to communicate effectively

- Ability to effectively communicate direction and instructions to end users
- Must have ability to use scripting languages to migrate and manipulate data

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: - Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Reliable transportation required
- May require some evening and weekend work
- Some travel may be expected
- May be eligible for temporary occasional remote work subject to supervisors approval
- Occasional climbing of stairs
