The Opportunity

Are you passionate about building highimpact developer tools and scalable infrastructure Do you thrive on solving deep technical challenges that directly impact engineering velocity across dozens of teams We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development and continuous improvement of our Pythonbased build and dependency management system purposebuilt to support Adobes broad ecosystem of applications.

In this role you will own a critical part of Adobes internal engineering platform collaborate with product teams across multiple domains and shape the future of how we build integrate and deliver highquality software.

What Youll Do

Build System Development and Enhancement

• Lead the design development and evolution of Adobes inhouse Pythonbased build system supporting complex C projects and multiplatform toolchains.
• Architect a scalable crossplatform build workflow that supports nested dependencies distributed build strategies and highthroughput development pipelines.
• Integrate support for a wide range of compilers and platforms including Windows macOS Linux iOS Android WASM ARM and x64.
• Partner with engineering teams to understand build system requirements identify bottlenecks and deliver solutions that optimize build times and developer experience.
• Propose and implement cloudbased build and deployment strategies for both internal artifacts and publicfacing SDKs and APIs.
• Emphasize system extensibility documentation and developer selfservice as key principles of design and delivery.

Group Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing

• Collaborate crossfunctionally to establish standards drive adoption of best practices and support teams integrating with the build ecosystem.
• Document and maintain build system usage guidelines tooling configurations and onboarding workflows to ensure a frictionless developer experience.
• Mentor junior engineers and partner with peers to foster a strong inclusive culture of learning and platform ownership.
  

Continuous Integration and Delivery

• Maintain robust CI/CD pipeline optimized for the inhouse build system.
• Ensure fast reliable and secure delivery workflows with focus on caching parallelization and release artifact integrity.
• Proactively analyze pipeline performance and work with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

Infrastructure Ownership

• Operate and maintain the cloud infrastructure underpinning the build system and related DevOps services.
• Monitor system performance and health implement upgrades and patches and drive automation efforts to maintain operational excellence.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure or buildrelated outages ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

What Youll Need to Success

• 10 years of experience as a software engineer with significant contributions to internal infrastructure or developer platforms.
• 5 years building tools for developersSDKs libraries CLI utilities or DevOps platforms.
• Deep understanding of the C/C compilation and linking model including platformspecific constraints and performance tuning.
• Extensive experience with Python including asynchronous programming and systemlevel scripting.
• Familiarity with modern C (C11 and beyond) and build toolchains for crossplatform development.
• Demonstrated ability to architect scalable systems write detailed technical documentation and deliver polished engineering solutions.
• Excellent communication mentorship and collaboration skills with a proven track record of driving impact across diverse teams.

Bonus Qualifications (Great to Have)

• Expertlevel knowledge of CMake including use of toolchains generator expressions and integration with IDEs (Visual Studio Xcode).
• Experience with other opensource build systems like Bazel Buck or Ninja including evaluating tradeoffs and designing custom integrations.
• Experience managing monorepos cloudbased artifact repositories and build orchestration services.
• Contributions to opensource build infrastructure or tools used in largescale developer environments.
• Familiarity with systems for distributing and managing internal developer tools and APIs in a selfservice model.

Nonsales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and shortterm incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
