Job Description:
This position provides support to the University IT Support Teams and assists them in the accomplishment of their
departmental activities. Provides a ssista nce with the IT depa rtments vision in long range planning technology
requirements and initiatives and has an understanding of how technology is used in education
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
Ba chelors degree in Information Technology (IT) or closely related field or a n Associa tes degree with a t least
25 years of experience at an IT Help Desk
Practical experience in information technology a plus
Knowledge of sound information security practices
Experience or Education in any of the following:
o Providing desktop support
o Instructional lab uses and funding
o Apple hardware and software environment
o Microsoft Windows Server Operating System (Server Active Directory and Exchange)
o Windows desktop/laptop Operating Systems (Professional)
Preferred:
Good knowledge of Higher Education general business practices and procedures
Ability to effectively work with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise
Ability to work in a multiplatform environment
Project Management knowledge
Knowledge/education of healthcare applications (EMR EHR etc.)
Proficiency in two or more programming languages such as PL/SQL Visual Basic Java Perl C
C XML or HTML/HTML 5
Familiar with VMWare Configuration Manager (SMS) or higher
Data Reporting Business Intelligence and/or Data Warehousing experience
Additional Skills
Ability to:
o Work well in a team environment and in situations where there are competing high priority projects
o To maneuver around and under office furniture to properly install network computer equipment
Must be able to evaluate crisis situations set priorities and accomplish a high volume work load while
maintaining a positive working relationship with coworkers and clients
Must be flexible and willing to accommodate special needs and special software requirements of clients
Should be selfmotivated detailoriented and organized
Ability to work with student staff and oversee their work
Interacts with internal clients to resolve basic help desk issues
Communicates with internal clients in a professional manner maintaining
confidentiality and provides responses in a timely manner.
3. Provide onsite technical support as needed. (after hours)
FollowThrough and Meets Deadlines
Troubleshoot hardware issues
Troubleshoot connectivity issues
Replace equipment (Mice Keyboards Ascom Phones)
Verify all equipment is working correctly
Answer customer questions
Proactively resolve issue
install upgrade and support software packages as needed with approval
