The current vacancy is at Puente Hills Materials Recovery Facility.
The list of eligible candidates resulting from this posting may be used to fill any additional vacancies that may occur in the next six (6) months at the Calabasas Landfill Puente Hills Materials Recovery Facility and Scholl Canyon Landfill.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks related to vehicles heavy equipment and support equipment (Fleet Assets).

Assist mechanics in technical diagnostic and repair work
Maintain an inventory of servicing supplies and equipment parts
Create work orders and update work order records in a computerized maintenance management system
Schedule and coordinate major services
Drive offsite to perform various tasks including picking up parts
This job opportunity may be filled at either level:
FLEET SERVICE TECHNICIAN Iis the intermediate level class of the series.
FLEET SERVICE TECHNICIAN IIis the more experienced level class of the series.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess all of the following:
A valid California Class C driver license
For FLEET SERVICE TECHNICIAN I:
One (1) year of progressively responsible experience servicing and maintaining a variety of vehicles or heavy equipment; ORcompletion of one (1) year of a twoyear trade school in diesel mechanic technology heavy equipment technology or a closely related program may be considered in lieu of the required experience.
For FLEET SERVICE TECHNICIAN II:
One (1) year working as an Fleet Service Technician I for the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County.

Service and maintenance requirements of a variety of construction and utility equipment
Hazards and safe work practices related to the work environment
Functions and operating requirements of equipment
Service and maintenance requirements of a variety of vehicular and heavy equipment tires and wheels
Ability to:
Understand and implement written servicing instructions
Operate a variety of construction and utility equipment
Service heavy equipment
Track oil and fuel use
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
SELECTION PROCESS:
All applications will be reviewed to determine if the conditions and qualifications for testing are met.
The selection process will consist of a written test weighted at 50% and an interview weighted at 50%.
Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each selection component to move forward in the selection process.
The written exam is tentatively scheduled for Monday June 9.
The interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of June 16.
