The Role
This is a midlevel leadership role with Student Life at Northwestern Polytechnic. The Psychologist reports to the Manager Student Life.
The priority of the Psychologist is to provide expert insight and guidance to the Manager Student Life and senior administration on the development growth and sustainability of student mental health supports. To this end this position will be involved in strategic planning for mental health and wellness initiatives for Northwestern Polytechnic. The primary responsibilities are as follows:
- Responsibility 1 : Personal Counselling and Crisis / Risk Management (50%)
- Responsibility 2: Grant Budget Administration Data Management and Reporting (15%)
- Responsibility 3: Strategic Planning and Program Development (15%)
- Responsibility 4: Supervision and Leadership of NWP Mental Health Services (10%)
- Responsibility 5: Educational Programming (5%)
- Responsibility : Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

Requirements
The successful candidate must have a Masters level qualification with completion of graduate level studies in either Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology required five years related work experience including experience with proposal writing for funding grants. A valid College of Alberta Psychologists registration to practice are required.Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
- Current Violent Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA)training is considered an asset;
- Experience working with young adults;
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills;
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with students faculty support staff andcommunity members;
- Confidence in dealing with crisis and affected individuals;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills;
- A high level of integrity professionalism and accountability;
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills;
- Ability to collaborate with teams and stakeholders on projects;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and the ability to adapt quickly to technology;
- Willingness to work nontraditional hourswhen required; and
- Experience in developing virtual relationships.
