Job Description

Licensing Officer 6Month Contract)

Our client is seeking a Licensing Officer for a 6month contract to actively support their mission and vision as a frontline ambassador in processing motor dealer wholesaler brokeragent and salesperson applications for licensing and renewals.


What You ll Do

Key accountabilities for this role include:

  • Processing applications for licenses renewals or course registrations in a timely manner with attention to detail and public interest.
  • Responding to a high volume of communications and inperson visits professionally and courteously.
  • Collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Building and maintaining professional relationships with dealership contacts licensing authorities municipal authorities and government agencies.
  • Gathering evidence and assisting in preparing objective and unbiased written reports for hearings.
  • Exercising good judgment and discretion in an impartial manner.
  • Performing a variety of clerical and administrative functions including preparing statistics in support of licensing processes.
  • Undertaking additional duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Your Experience and Educational Background

Preferred qualifications:

  • University degree.
  • One year of experience in a related field (e.g. administering consumer protection legislation government licensing clerk or a similar role). Recent graduates will be considered.
  • Knowledge of the Motor Dealer Act the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act and their associated regulations.
  • Familiarity with the BC motor dealer industry.
  • Understanding of administrative law principles and regulatory authority.

Preference will be given to applicants who have worked in a regulatory environment involving consumer protection.

  • Proficiency with computers databases and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Comfortable learning new technology tools skills and processes.
  • Strong relationshipbuilding skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to workplace compliance standards.
  • Effective interviewing skills and techniques.

Compensation and Contract Length

This position offers a competitive salary in the range of $56880 $63990 annually (prorated for the 6month term) plus 6 in lieu of vacation and benefits.

The Licensing Officer role is a 6month contract starting on a mutually agreed date.
