Job Description

  • Temporary role for up to 6 months within NSW Resources
  • Senior Executive Band 2 TRP from $288K per annum including super
  • Development opportunity for a Senior Executive to lead a high performing team
  • Office location preference of Maitland however other locations will be considered for the right candidate.

Quick Summary

Exciting Senior Leadership role leading effective and transparent decision making on businesses which are entering or are operating within the mining industry in NSW. Responsibility for the assessment and determination of applications for mineral and petroleum titles for exploration and extraction balancing social economic and environmental matters to deliver benefits for the community and the state.

Key Details

As a key member of the NSW Resources Executive Leadership Team the Executive Director Assessments and Systems will:

  • Lead the strategic direction and operational delivery of exploration and mining assessments
  • Oversee the development and implementation of systems and processes that support highquality timely and consistent decisionmaking
  • Drive reform initiatives to improve integration with broader departmental and cluster planning and authorisation frameworks
  • Provide authoritative advice on complex and often politically sensitive matters balancing regulatory compliance with industry development
  • Foster a highperformance culture across multidisciplinary teams with a strong focus on professional development innovation and customer service
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies local councils industry representatives and community groups to ensure assessments meet evolving needs and expectations.

To be successful in this role we are looking for the following key requirements:

  • Proven senior executive experience in regulatory systems environmental assessment or resource management within a complex government or industry setting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead largescale reform and deliver strategic outcomes in highstakes environments
  • Deep understanding of the economic social and environmental issues associated with the resources and mining sectors in NSW
  • Strong knowledge of applicable mining legislation regulatory frameworks and government operations
  • Exceptional communication stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities
  • A degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
