POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

To perform preventive maintenance electrical safety inspections performance verification and repairs on clinical equipment. Documentation of all work performed. Participate in safety and quality improvement programs as directed and to perform related duties as assigned.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education Experience or Equivalent Combination:

    • Minimum twoyear degree or certificate in Biomedical Electronics Electronics or related military or civilian training.

    • Four years experience in clinical setting or equivalent. Advanced degrees or experience in an adjacent field may substitute for experience.

  • Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

    • None

  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of Biomedical Electronics.

    • Knowledge of maintenance and repair of patient monitoring systems.

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department managers coworkers outside agencies clients patients and the public.

    • Ability to perform basic electronic repair and electrical safety inspections.

    • Expertise in at least one area of Clinical Engineering.

    • Knowledge of computer use and Microsoft Office.

    • Minimum twoyear degree in Biomedical Electronics or Electronics.

    • Hospital or field service experience.

    • Five years experience in clinical setting or equivalent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. (10%) Performs preventive maintenance as required.

  • Obtains list of scheduled devices from Mainspring.

  • Schedules maintenance with department head.

  • Completes maintenance in accordance with manufacturers guidelines.

  • Documents maintenance on Mainspring.

  1. (10%) Performs electrical safety testing as required.

  • Obtains list of scheduled safety inspections from Mainspring.

  • Schedules safety inspection with department head.

  • Completes maintenance in accordance with manufacturers guidelines.

  • Documents maintenance on Mainspring.

  1. (10%) Works with vendors to ensure compliance with hospital procedures. Documents vendor service in Mainspring.

  • Contact appropriate vendor for service.

  • Generate purchase order if required.

  • Receive work order from vendor when service completed.

  • Document service repair in Mainspring.

  1. (10%) Performs work in accordance with regulatory agencies.

  • Follows regulatory guidelines when servicing equipment.

  • Documents all work in Mainspring.

  • Complies with policy/procedures for Clinical Engineering.

  1. (10%) Performs inservices for staff regarding clinical equipment.

  • Prepares and provides training for staff on clinical equipment.

  • Provides written information regarding the operation of the equipment.

  • Provides documentation of the training to the department head.

  • Documents training in Mainspring.




  1. (50%) Repairs complex medical devices.

  • Attends service school for specific devices.

  • Follows manufacturer guidelines for troubleshooting/maintenance of device.

  • Documents repair in Mainspring.

  • Documents parts used in Mainspring.

  • Prepares purchase order for parts required.
