The Opportunity

Do you have a passion for supporting cuttingedge research and ensuring compliance with vital regulations Monash University is looking for a dedicated and detailoriented Research Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role youll provide highlevel administrative services to bolster our research strategies and initiatives.

To succeed in this role youll provide:

  • Expert Guidance: Deliver specialist advice on Commonwealth and state legislation particularly the Biosecurity Act 2015 and Gene Technology Act 2000.

  • Process Management:Oversee administrative processes related to biosecurity and gene technology ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

  • Facility Compliance:Conduct inspections and maintain records for Approved Arrangement sites and OGTRcertified facilities in line with regulatory obligations.

  • Committee Support:Provide administrative support to the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) including coordinating meetings and processing applications.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues clients regulatory authorities and other key stakeholders.

  • Policy Development:Contribute to policy development governance processes and compliance reporting.

What youll bring to the role:

  • A degree in a relevant field or extensive experience in medical biomedical or life sciences disciplines.

  • Knowledge of Australian legislation relating to recombinant DNA technologies and the importation and use of biological goods.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage time workload and competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills enabling you to engage with diverse stakeholders and negotiate positive outcomes.

  • A collaborative approach to teamwork coupled with the ability to work independently using sound judgement and initiative.
