Job Description

Assistant Project Manager Utility Arboriculture

Location: Cambridge & Surrounding Areas

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week MondayFriday

What youll do:

Ground Control is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our dynamic Utility Arboriculture division. This isnt a desk job youll be in the field managing vegetation clearance projects that support the safety and resilience of the UKs power infrastructure.

Youll lead the charge in ensuring that our field teams are empowered efficient and consistently delivering topquality work across your region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and managing tree cutting and vegetation clearance works around powerlines
  • Driving performance and efficiency across field teams ensuring KPIs are met or exceeded
  • Planning work programmes overseeing budgets ensuring safety compliance and maintaining quality standards
  • Supporting surveyor development and resolving issues related to land access TPOs SSSIs and consent
  • Managing and mentoring junior staff to grow future leaders
  • Maintaining accurate reporting and client communication
  • Auditing works and improving operational practices for safety environmental and customer excellence

What were looking for:

  • Experience in a field operations utilities environmental or vegetation management setting
  • Strong team management and coordination skills
  • Practical understanding of project planning and budget oversight
  • A proactive approach to solving challenges and managing multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in IT tools for scheduling reporting and communication
  • A full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Any experience in tree work horticulture or arboriculture is a plus but not essential
