What is the compensation
Pay Rate: $19.00 $24.96 per hour (depending on qualifications)

What are the main duties
Provide general patron assistance with library systems and technology.
Conduct reference and Readers Advisory interviews in person or on the phone.
Assist in collection development through the review selection acquisition and cataloging of materials that meet the librarys mission and goals.
Provide assistance in planning and executing library programs activities and services.
Assist in developing and creating various promotional ideas and materials to enhance programs activities and services.
Read professional journals and perform research.
Attend conferences seminars and other training sessions.
Conduct library tours.
Attend staff meetings and perform other related duties as required.
What are the minimum requirements
Provo City accepts equivalent combinations of jobrelated education and/or professional library experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities substituting each 1 year of postsecondary education/training for 6 months of fulltime experience.
Bachelors degree.
OR 2 years of professional librarian experience.
Spanish language skills preferred.
What are the hours
24 hours per week Monday through Saturday. Will require working evening and weekend hours. Actual hours to be discussed during the interview.
What are the physical and environmental factors
This position requires travel to other libraries or public schools pushing book carts bending and shifting to rearrange library materials long periods of answering telephones and data entry standing or sitting at a computer or desk for long periods communicating with a wide variety of patrons occasional heavy lifting and carrying of library materials and performing other varied physical activities associated with the essential job duties. Requires extensive verbal and auditory skills for communicating with a broad variety of patrons. This work is inside in an open area subject to constant public contact telephone calls and frequent noise. May include exposure to highstress situations or environments including contact with the public in confrontational or unpleasant circumstances and other stressful conditions related to the workplace.
What is the selection process
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted with the first screening being held on Tuesday May 27 2025. Applicants mustmeet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Nondisclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
