The Role:
Moderna is seeking a motivated and curious Automation Engineer Intern to join the Clinical Biomarker Automation group. In this role you will support the automation of biomarker assays by learning to operate and program liquid handling systems under the mentorship of experienced engineers. This internship provides handson exposure to laboratory automation process improvement and highthroughput systems in a cuttingedge clinical biomarker lab environment.
Heres What Youll Do:
Learn to operate and support Hamilton liquid handlers and automation software such as Hamilton Venus
Assist in developing and optimizing automated protocols under supervision
Shadow and support automation engineers with troubleshooting and system maintenance
Participate in integrating external lab devices (e.g. centrifuges sealers) into automation workflows
Help maintain system logs and assist with issue tracking and resolution
Attend team meetings and contribute to project updates and documentation
Gain exposure to automation scheduling software (e.g. Thermo Fisher Momentum)
Learn about lab automation instrumentation and its role in highthroughput assay development
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:
Currently pursuing a BS in Biology Engineering Biotechnology or a related field
Strong interest in laboratory automation and robotics
Exposure to or coursework in automation systems (Hamilton Tecan etc.) is a plus
Strong problemsolving mindset and willingness to learn new tools and techniques
Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with basic programming or scripting is a plus
Experience with Jira or version control tools (e.g. Git Bitbucket) is a bonus but not required
