QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mathematics and must hold or be eligible to hold a Virginia teaching license. Experience in teaching math / STEM and providing academic behavioral and social/emotional support to students is highly desirable. The candidate should possess strong classroom management skills and demonstrate the ability to work with students who lack motivation and/or exhibit challenging behaviors. Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Knowledge of effective instructional strategies techniques for alternative education settings and an understanding of Virginias 3E Readiness Framework is preferred. Candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
DESCRIPTION
The high school Pathways Program provides unique and specialized services for students in grades 9th and 10th who require a structured environment focused on strengthening academic skills and attendance. In addition to receiving aligned instruction social/emotional support and behavioral support students in the Pathways Program will increase their preparedness for a pathway (employment education or enlistment) as they work with community partners in increasing their capacity to build problem solving skills awareness and aptitude for life after high school.
The Pathways Program is staffed with two licensed content teachers who provide blended instruction in the core academic areas. Additional staff will provide any needed counseling and/or IEP/504/EL services. Pathways will be located in The Well which is located on the third floor of the School Board Office Building. Staff will provide targeted instruction within the alternative setting according to a predetermined A/B block schedule that will run July 2025 through June 2026. Teachers will be expected to provide the following services/support to students: advisory checkins academic and elective instruction through explicit and real world applications social skills training; goal setting; and conflict resolution.

SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the lead administrator of The WELL.
WORK CONDITIONS
The role requires regular interaction with students parents and school staff. The position may involve handling challenging behaviors and implementing behavior management strategies. The teacher must be able to adapt to a flexible schedule and work in a fastpaced environment. This role may also require participation in afterschool meetings events or professional development sessions. The teacher must maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to school policies and procedures at all times. This work often entails frequent standing sitting walking and light lifting. Certain assignments may have deadlines as they involve customizing and delivering programs to cater to diverse groups needs. Additionally employees may be called upon to provide emergency and nonemergency healthrelated services for students as required.
