07/01/2025The Director for Curriculum and Instruction provides leadership and vision to teachers and administrators for implementation of Colorado Academic Standards and the alignment of curriculum and instruction PK12; provides leadership that supports instructional best practices and researchbased instruction for academic and social emotional learning.The following statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and other key duties that may be required. Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards
Ensures ongoing compliance with all laws rules regulations and Board of Education policies as they relate to standards curriculum and instruction by collaborating with Directors for Information Technology and Assessment to coordinate development maintenance analysis and reporting of Multitiered Systems of Support (MTSS) students;
Oversee the process of review and presentation to the Board of Education of all new course proposals; maintain the district course catalogue in the student information system in compliance with state expectations;
Oversee annual state reporting on courses in Teacher Student Data Link; oversee National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Higher Education Admission Recommendations (HEAR) approvals for high school courses; oversee the process of review and presentation to the Board of Education for textbooks;
Oversee the administration analysis and reporting of the biannual drug and alcohol survey; collaborate with Director for IT Digital Integration Services to oversee the process for approval of digital instructional materials; provide consultation for biannual Office of Civil Rights (OCR) Data Collection on course offerings and course enrollments; reviewing and revising administrative policies regarding instruction
Oversees all responsibilities within the division of Learning Services related to standardsbased curriculum development instruction adoption and implementation.
Oversees the development and delivery of a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all schools in the district by providing guidance and support for use of Standards Based Report Cards in elementary school; collaborate with Directors for Information Technology (IT) Assessment and College and Career Services to support schools in the implementation of graduation requirements; provide guidance to secondary schools on course offerings and sequence; collaborate with the Director for College and Career Services to develop courses for Career Pathways; collaborate with stakeholders in the development implementation and evaluation of curriculum instruction and standardsbased instruction using the Standards Implementation Review Cycle; oversee and lead districtwide adoption of newly revised Colorado Academic Standards
Provides high quality justintime training for principals teachers and parent community in all areas of academic and social emotional learning by collaborating with the Director for Assessment and the Director for Professional Learning to support Instructional Leadership Plans for schools and provide customized onsite support to schools; collaborating with the Director for Professional Learning to lead the districts social emotional learning initiative; collaborating with the Director for Professional Learning and Director for Communication to design implement and market Parent Academy classes; mentoring Learning Services Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSA); overseeing Human Sexuality Curriculum training; collaborating with the Risk Management Office to oversee training for the Challenge Adventure Program
Researches develops and implements programs and practices to ensure widespread use of researchbased instructional strategies by providing oversight training guidance and support to schools on the development and implementation of practices and processes for MultiTiered Systems of Supports (MTSS); collaborating with Directors for Special Education to coordinate general education and special education intervention processes and supports; collaborating with Directors for Special Education to provide ongoing training and support for coteaching; collaborating with the Director for Professional Learning to provide oversight training guidance and support for literacy instruction and interventions; collaborating with the Director for Professional Learning to provide oversight training guidance and support to instructional coaches and teacher leaders in schools; collaborating with Learning Services Directors and the Director for IT Digital Integration Services to optimize the use of digital resources for instruction; providing training and oversight of the Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program as the District AVID Director; overseeing operation and services of the Science Center
